Bone-Fish Pond Nature Preserve
New Providence, BS
Located in the recently created nature preserve on the southern coastal area known as Bonefish Pond,
The new visitor center for the Bahamas national trust had to meet stringent sustainability requirements,
It had to accommodate a crowded daily visitor load with careful management protocols to mitigate drainage to the fragile eco-system. Raised above the flood plain the building main floor accommodates information kiosks, concessions stand, interpretative areas, gift stove and washrooms.
The areas under is used for storing kayaks, Canoes and other recreational equipment along with additional washrooms. A sinuous boardwalk traces through extensive mangrove creeks and wetlands terminating at an observation platform at the beginning of inlet into the estuary.
